Appia Rugby wins the Balaton Beach Rugby Tournament

After two days of exciting Beach Rugby, Appia Rugby wins the Lake Balaton beach rugby tournament. Success with the public and participation for the Hungarian event which, despite the restrictive anti-covid regulations, managed to showcase an interesting organization and, in particular, there was great enthusiasm around all the teams that took the field.

A good starting point looking to the future. Yes, because the event organized on Lake Balaton was observed special, in view of a future in the EBRA (European Beach Rugby Association) Series, in 2021.

<< The event took place in an optimal way, commented Kasper Bleijenberg, vice president EBRA – the hope is certainly to be able to restart with the European beach rugby circuit starting from 2021 and to involve as many realities as possible. Balaton Lake has shown that it can be a potential new entry in terms of organization and desire to excel in what will once again become a must of the European oval summers: beach rugby >>.

9 teams compete today in beach rugby on Lake Balaton

The great beach rugby is played in Hungary and, more precisely, at Lake Balaton. The stage would have been, if it had not been for the coronavirus, part of the Ebra circuit – European Beach Rugby Association – Series. Thanks to the great work done by Ákos Péczely, organizer of the event, the EBRA will be monitoring the tournament on site as early as this season, so as to be able to officially include it in the calendar as early as the 2021 edition. EBRA vice president Kasper will be present on site. Bleijenberg. << I am very proud to have managed to set up this tournament – comments Ákos Péczely – I hope it is the beginning of a long series of beach rugby tournaments! Having the opportunity to become part of EBRA then stimulated me to try to give my best to be able to structure this event. Any predictions? I am very happy to have a foreign team, more precisely Italian, Appia Rugby; at the same time I expect a good show, many teams also have athletes who practice judo in their ranks and who therefore use rugby as a parallel sport. There will be fun! >>.
